Production Separators
A production separator is used to separate fluids from a well, and can be vertical, horizontal, or spherical in design. They are classified as two-phase (oil and gas) or three-phase (oil, water, and gas). Separators are also categorized by operating pressure: low (10-180 psi), medium (230-700 psi), and high (975-1500 psi).
Glycol Dehydration
Glycol dehydration removes water vapor from natural gas to prevent hydrates, lower the gas's dew point, reduce pipeline corrosion, and improve efficiency by minimizing free water accumulation. Pipeline contracts usually require 4 lb H2O/mmscf, but designs often target 2 lb H2O/mmscf. A simplified Glycol Dehydration Process Flow Diagram is available for reference.
